New Year’s Resolutions: 20 Questions for Self-Reflection

You saw my very blunt goodbye letter to 2023. And you read about one strategy for making balanced goals for 2024. Now, let’s play 20 questions!
This post is inspired by a similar list of questions on MindBodyGreen (in fact, some of the questions are the same).
Self-reflection is a beautiful thing. It’s about being honest with yourself, evaluating the things that may not have worked out as you hoped, and dreaming up wild and wonderful things for the future. Enjoy the process!

Why these questions matter
Self-reflection isn’t about beating yourself up for what didn’t happen — it’s about celebrating the wins, learning from the losses, and setting yourself up for something even better. These questions help shift your focus from vague resolutions (like “get healthy” or “be happy”) to deeper, more personal commitments that actually mean something to you.

If you’re headed out this evening for a night of fun, please be safe! I’m going to ring out 2013 very enthusiastically with a handful of friends. And as I said in my letter to 2013: screw you. I’m ready to see you go!
